I made this beautiful piece from a gorgeous but delicate silk crazy quilt top that my mother had owned for years. Some of the silk pieces had lost their integrity and were fraying. In those places I have replaced the silk either with other parts of the quilt top or silk that I had at home. I then lined these parts with embroidery to match the vintage embroidery. This piece fits beautifully on a range of sizes, though best on someone size 8 and above, because of the neckline. It drapes almost like a kimono top, with a deep V at the neck. Would be gorgeous worn out to an art or performance event!
 
This piece would definitely require extreme care in washing. I would be concerned that colors would bleed with water and I’m not sure if they would hold up to dry cleaning. Best to keep this as a special piece to wear on occasion and spot clean if necessary. The backing fabric has age stains that are part of the garment at this point :-)
